Dear Beyond Little House:
I love the new site and know that as time passes you will be adding that Laura feel to it. Thank you for doing this.
I have a question for Ask the Experts. How can I subscribe to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Lore? I cannot find a location.
Anita Gilley
Dear Anita:
Every once in a while I’ll be between reading material and my eyes will be drawn to the shelf of my “Laura” stuff. If I’ve got a nice stretch of time in front of me, I love to pull out my three-ring binder of Laura Ingalls Wilder Lore newsletters and spend an hour (or more!) absorbed in them.
The Lore is a four-page newsletter put out twice a year by the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society in De Smet, South Dakota. It was founded by Ingalls/Wilder biographer William Anderson back in 1975. He still edits it today. A subscription to the Lore is a companion part of the membership package in the Memorial Society. The pricing is three-tiered: $10 for one year, $25 for three years, and $500 for a lifetime membership. You can subscribe right on the Memorial Society’s site . The society also offers a three-ring binder of back issues at a current price of $85, and a best-of compilation for $19.95.

Is the three-ring binder of back issues still available? I thought when they came out with the compilation of the best of the articles that the three-ring binder option disappeared. If not, please tell me how I can order it. Thanks!
Gayle

Forgive me if I am posting this question in the wrong place…I love this blog and am so happy to see ANYTHING else Laura-related… I have the typical background of “loving Laura” and the interest in her and her life that has persisted into adulthood…
My question, though, regards The Long Winter. Are there historical weather records for S Dakota from that time that bear out the “blizzards for seven months” that Laura described? If so, can you point me in their direction?
Thank you so much, I am looking forward to checking back often!!
