If Rose Wilder Lane were alive today, what would she be doing? Share your thoughts in the comment section and be entered in a drawing for a copy of my book Rose Wilder Lane’s San Francisco. In approximately two weeks I will let the computer at random.org pick the winners. There will be several opportunities throughout the summer to win a copy so if you miss out this time, keep trying. Feel free to enter the drawing, even if you already have a copy of the book. Win one for a friend or for your local library. Most of all have fun! Hosting a talk show on Libertarianism.
I thought along those lines also. Involved in politics somehow, in the Libertarian Party, of course.
I think Rose would be an outspoken writer, just as she was then.
She would be living and travelling with ME! lol Seriously, I think she would continue to write, and possibly focus on her political views, perhaps, she may even run for president! The US has yet to have the first female for president…will it ever happen? Rose could possibly make that happen if she were here. I certainly would be her friend, and hopefully even a travelling-writing companion! -John Bass
I think she would be doing much of what she always did. She would be current in all the news of the day and writing about it all. I picture her still traveling to all the important countries. I think it would have been fascinating to get her views on what happened to our country on 9/11 and the changes that have occured since then.
She’d be blogging.
Oh, Elliemae, I know she’d be blogging! And she’d be adamant that we all need to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps–and absolutely against funding corporate America. (Or anyone else for that matter.)
She’d be a blogger, with a very widely read blog but she’d give most of the money away. She’d have moved to Montana while researching a book she was writing that involved her mother’s cousins. Rose fell in love with the independence of the residents and has made her home there. She does still maintain her slum apartment in New York which she uses when she has to meet with her agent or appear on Fox News. She’s vowed never to go back to California after what they have done to the state. She’s still involved with Albania and actually has several schools there she started after their financial crises. Some have compared her to Oprah, which really annoys her. As for the changes in the country since 9/11, it’s something that she fights with her parents about any time they get together. She and her Aunt EJ are considering writing a book together about politics, but haven’t decided on the perfect angle yet.
(All of these reflect my opinion on Rose’s feeling and should in no way be taken any other way. Some I agree with, some I don’t.
)
If Rose were alive today, she’d be heavily involved in politics. She’d be an adivisor to some lucky political candidate, although I don’t believe it would be with either the Republican or Democratic party.
In her spare time, Rose would be writing, of course. Her blogs and her novels would be very interesting, indeed. Perhaps she would put to rest the whole “Ghost in the Little House” issue.
Rose and today are a bad combination and I’m not sure I want to know!
What happen?
