I don't even really see it as a competition, since Laura was a real girl at some point and Anne was entirely fictitious. As I said on the blog, I'm going to have to come down on Laura's side, but only because I have performed more embarrassing fan rituals in her name. This is, by the way, an issue that helped inspire the book I'm working on right now, The Heroine's Bookshelf (October 2010, HarperCollins). And no, there are no good answers to a question like that.
