So tonight I was instant-messaging my husband — or to be accurate, he was instant-messaging me — while I was on a call with someone about a Homesteader story.
The fellow on the phone was also a Laura Ingalls Wilder fan. In the course of conversation he mentioned that he’d seen my neck of the woods was under a tornado watch. (That neck of the woods would be southwest Kansas, even though I’m currently in Massachusetts.) Sure enough, from his computer in our house in Kansas, my husband was now chatting about a “cloud” he was “watching pretty closely.” He left abruptly after typing to go resume his watch.
My phone mate and I shared a good chuckle over the phone; it did sound very “Little House.”
“Like Pa, watching the sky and waking everybody up to go down cellar!” we joked.
I stopped laughing a little while later when I saw this photo, taken from right behind my house:

Wow! Hope everything was ok at your house after that cloud passed through.
WOW, ya got very lucky, we live in Texas & my husband does the same thing when strong storms come.
I love Little House & I try to live parts of my life like that, it’s fun & hard but you got to love it. I have read the Books over & over & starting on the first one again tonight. I also have the cookbook the recipe’s are great my family loves them.
Whew! That was a true tornado photo! Hope it skipped right over y’all!
We are under a tornado watch right now until 9 pm on the Front Range of northern Colorado.
Ahhh, spring in Kansas.
