I have a hard time not thinking of Rocky Ridge Day (which hasn’t been held since 2002) every time October rolls around. Sigh.
I’m saying hello to you folks from the top of a hole, which I’ve burrowed myself into for the past few weeks as my kids’ schooling and activities has ramped up. I also started a new job, so it’s been a lot of maneuvering and restructuring into a new routine.
While I’ve been waiting for the dust to settle, I’ve been working on a few Laura-related things. One such project is a LauraPalooza-only edition of The Homesteader with BLH contributor Sarah Uthoff. It’s coming along nicely and should be available in about a month. Another major item on my to-do list is a collection of blog posts on my own take on attending LauraPalooza. What? You say it happened three months ago? So? Is it ever too late to read about fabulous Laura events?
Keeping me busy also in September was a trip to Chicago, where I got to hang out with BLH contributor and author of the forthcoming The Wilder Life, Wendy McClure. One night she and I sat in the audience of Alison Arngrim’s live comedy show, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch. We had a wonderful time. One caveat: in case you didn’t get this idea already from her book, Alison’s show is extremely R-rated. I didn’t mind, but if that’s something that bothers you, it’s better to know before you go.
Back to work. I’m so excited about that Laura event in Michigan — I wish I could go!
