An interesting question keeps coming up in conversations about the Homesteader, especially with the release of the LauraPalooza edition:
“Do you offer an online version?”
The short answer is: No, we do not. But there is a follow-up to that answer: We would love to.
An online version of the Homesteader would be beneficial in a few ways:
- It would be much easier to sell and provide subscriptions internationally.
- Online issues could be offered at a lower cost.
- Prices wouldn’t go up with postage increases. (Shipping has become a substantial portion of the cost in the last ten years.)
- Subscribers could read their issues on e-readers (like the Kindle).
- Online-only would be a paperless, environmentally friendly option.
- No futzing with the jute to lace issues.
- Having choices is always a good thing.
I do intend to research online subscriptions as an option, but if I get feedback that this is what a lot of people want, I’ll make that research a priority.
So make your voice heard. If you have an opinion, leave a comment. Would you like the option of an online version of the Homesteader — or are you satisfied with print?
